TEAM SELF-ASSESSMENT

Please pick the level that best describes your Pinto Division team. Please understand that at each level, not every bullet point will apply to your team. We are just looking for an overall assessment of your team's skill level.

Pinto PLATINUM Division - Pinto is for teams/players that want are a more experienced or want more of a challenge when playing baseball. They may utilize regulation baseballs, players will pitch the entire game.

  • My team will hold our own practices before the start of SFYBL practices.
  • More than 90% of my players have played baseball before.
  • More than 80% of my players understand the overall rules of baseball.
  • I have 3 or more players who play travel ball.
  • I have 3 or more players who can throw strikes from the pitching distance (40 feet)
  • My infield defense can get outs on ground balls 40% to 65% of the time.
  • My defense will catch more than 65% of ordinary pop ups and fly balls.
  • More than 65% of my players have proper batting mechanics.
  • More than 65% of my players consistently hit line drives when they are given easy pitches to hit.
  • More than 65% of my players have proper fielding and throwing mechanics.

Pinto GOLD Division

  • My team has characteristics of PLATINUM division, but we are a very young team with many 6U's playing up
  • My team will try to hold our own practices before the start of SFYBL practices
  • About 50% to 70% of my players have played baseball before.
  • I have 0 to 2 players who play travel ball.
  • I have 2 or fewer players who can throw strikes from the pitching distance (40 feet).
  • My infield defense can get outs on ground balls 20% to 30% of the time.
  • My defense will catch between 20% to 30% of ordinary pop ups and fly balls.
  • About 25% to 40% of my players have proper batting mechanics; the majority will learn during the season.
  • About 25% to 40% of my players consistently hit line drives when they are given easy pitches to hit.
  • About 25% to 40% of my players have proper fielding and throwing mechanics; the majority will learn during the season.

Pinto SILVER Division

  • My team will begin practices only when we get our field permit from SFYBL.
  • About 20% to 40% of my players have played baseball before.
  • I might have 1 player who can throw strikes from the pitching distance (40 feet).
  • My infield defense can get outs on ground balls at most 15% of the time.
  • My defense can catch at most 15% of ordinary pop ups and fly balls.
  • About 10% to 20% of my players have proper batting mechanics; the vast majority will learn during the season.
  • About 10% to 20% of my players have proper fielding and throwing mechanics; the vast majority will learn during the season.
  • About 25% to 40% of my players can put the ball in play when they bat.

Pinto BRONZE Division

  • My team will begin practices only when we get our field permit from SFYBL
  • Fewer than 15% of my players have played baseball before.
  • None of my players can throw strikes from the pitching distance (40 feet).
  • My infield defense is still learning to field ground balls and throw to the correct base.
  • My defense is still learning to catch ordinary pop ups and fly balls.
  • Fewer than 10% of my players have proper batting mechanics; the vast majority will learn during the season.
  • Fewer than 10% of my players have proper fielding and throwing mechanics; the vast majority will learn during the season.
  • Fewer than 15% of my players can put the ball in play when they bat.
